the road journey you have just completed. Experience the welcome by the
gentle breeze and if you are lucky, by the clouds that routinely pass
by. Let the views take your breath and stress away. Let the body be
pampered by the comfort that the resort offers, the nature is in
abundance to rest your soul. Best place to just chill.
Give yourself a day and feel the painter, the writer, the poet,
the singer or the musician in you.
Trekking & Boating:
The desire to touch and feel the forest may see you setting off to
Bhimtal (a pleasant 2 hrs trek, past June Estate), or a leisurely walk
to the waterfall, just off the SatTal lake (time…you really care?) or go
boating in the SatTal lake with a friendly know-all boat man. If you are
there on a full moon night with your loved one, you may want to set-up a
late night boat ride. Divine!!!
Got another day to spare? Take a walk to the pine forest, visit the
temple en route or take a picnic hamper to the Garuda Lake, a short ride
from the main SatTal lake cluster. This lake is also called Panna or
Emerald Lake because of the reflection of the surrounding green forest
on the clear blue water of the lake. Kids just love to feed the very
visible and well fed fishes in Nal Damyanti Lake, a short drive away. Do
not miss the opportunity to visit Freddy’s house, stated to be one of
Asia’s biggest collection of butterflies and moths, named after its
curator and collector, Mr Fredrick Smetacek.
Bird Watching :
The area is a birdwatchers paradise. We thank Mr Sumit Sen, avid
birdwatcher, for the pictures of birds he spotted in and around the
resort. See trip report by Mr Bikram Grewal, noted birdwatcher at

Day Excrusion From
The Resort:
If and when you succumb to the pressure of visiting Nainital (23 kms),
do take the ropeway to the snow viewpoint to see the majestic Himalayas
and afterwards, enjoy the dosa, burger and pizza, all out of the same
outlet, with some hot Nescafe. Did we hear someone say, “it only happens
in India!!!”? Well thank God for that. And do not forget to visit the
roadside bazaar by the lake leading unto the famous Nainadevi temple. We
like to call this street “the magic street” as the best magic tricks are
sold here and that too at a throwaway price. This is a comfortable day
trip and you can even stop at Bhowali fruit market en route to pick up
the choicest fruit of the season. By now if your appetite for lakes and
the famous Kadi Chawal and Kheer found in all the dhabas is not
satiated, head for Naukuchiatal, or the lake with nine corners (14kms)
or Bhimtal (12km on the same route).Or you could go for a day trip to
Ramgarh and Mukteshwar. Thejourney is clearly better than the
destination. As you pass through fruit laden trees you can catch a
glimpse of the majestic Himalayas, if lucky.
Indoor Activities:
The resort has recently commissioned a Pool table to add to its choice
of great indoor activities. Enjoy a game of Table Tennis or Caroms or
simply relax with Cards, Chess and Scrabble. Or enjoy Badminton,
Basketball (ring) or a game of Croquet or Dartboard in our spacious
lawns. The resort has a spacious reading room and library with a large
collection of choicest books on all subjects and best sellers. Our video
library has collection of great all time favourite movies in English,
Hindi and some regional languages to suit all age groups.
Resort Amenities:
The Resort is equipped with all modern amenities, a large dinning
cum conference room, well furnished lobby with large glass panelled
doors for unhampered views, library (both books and video), a modern
kitchen, laundry and games room. Our large covered sunset verandah in
the main block offer great views as you enjoy an evening cup of
tea/coffee.
Views:
SatTal is a cluster of seven interconnected tarns set amidst
forested hills. The three main lakes are Ram, Laxman and Sita. The lakes
are at 4000ft above mean sea level and are one of the most beautiful and
pristine lake clusters in the kumaon region. The resort is a short 1km
drive up to the hilltop at the height of 5000ft above sea level and
overlooks the lake cluster and the thick pine and Oak forest surrounding
it. Flora and fauna abound and the area is a bird watchers paradise.
All Season Resort:
The weather remains excellent all through the year
and SatTal Forest Resort is therefore an ideal get away anytime one
chooses. Like in most hill station, the best of everything is found
between Sept - Nov and Feb - April. However, the monsoons for many are
clearly the best. It’s not only the flowers in full bloom, but also the
ever-changing scenery offered by the moving clouds and the mist that
keeps one completely enthralled. Winters are clear and bright and
evenings fog free. The climate is ideal for serious trekking and bird
watching. The snowfall on the hills all around the resort places you in
the ideal situation of experiencing the snowfall without being
discomfited by it. The early morning views after a fresh snowfall are a
treat not to be missed.
