Adventure Sport
-
Paragliding
Paragliding is a combination of hang gliding and parachuting. In
parachuting one has to jump from an aircraft whereas in para gliding
one has to run down hill. Basically famous for its scenic beauty of
Mountains and lakes, Naukuchiyatal valley provide just the right
kind of slopes for paragliding during summers/Autumn. Your wish of
flying free as a bird dream can be fulfilled by joining this
adventurous sport.
-
Rappelling
In the climbers native action of free fall is a drop where the rope
hangs free, not touching rocks or walls. But rappelling is a much
safer adventure sport than mountain climbing and anyone with usual
strength can participate in this activity. This sport is without any
danger and upper body strength is not necessary to enjoy this sport.
Climbing and rappelling provides an amateur basic knowledge of the
sport and will permit an initial, supervised experience. A unique
and exhilarating way to experience and if you can walk you can
rappel too.
-
Climbing
The challenge of a good climb is hard to resist. The satisfaction of
conquering sheer rock faces and dizzying heights is hard to beat. At
Lake Resort, you will really love to climb - and we will make you do
it in the best possible way. The right equipment, the right
technique and the right attitude are all vital ingredients in the
perfect climb. So strap up that harness - it's time to get the view
from the top.
-
Cycling
The simple, pure thrill of riding a bicycle is something many of us
forget when we grow out of childhood. Well, guess what? At Lake
Resort , we'll help you rediscover it. We cycle through rough and
smooth, warm and wet, road or path - to some of the prettiest places
you can find. What's more, we're proud to use transportation that
doesn't leave fumes. Hop on a bike (your own or one of ours) and get
with us - there's nothing quite like some serious pedal power.
-
Hiking
There's one trait we at Lake Resort share - a love of walking. We
simply love to put one foot in front of the other and just keep
going - into jungles, over mountains, along streams. If you like a
long walk, we've got a wide variety of local trails. Day hike for
beginners, overnight hikes for adventure loving and more
enthusiastic people. So strap on your backpack and put on your
boots. It's time for some adventure and local sight seeing...
Mountains
It's true. Camping at 2304 feet in the mighty Himalayas does tend to
get your mind off work. When it comes to panoramic views, exotic
locales and memorable treks up mountains, we at Lake Resort sure do
have a whole lot of stories to tell.
Be it a weekend trip in the Uttaranchal hills or a fortnight trip to
the remotest Himalayas – We at Lake Resort always manage to find
ourselves in the heart of the action: slipping, sliding, fighting
thorns and gasping at breathtaking views
Trekking in Uttranchal
The state of Uttaranchal comprises of three distinct zones, the
Terai is the flat land or known as the ‘Plains’ with teak/ Sal
forests and the home to the Tiger and Elephant. Not much trekking is
done in this region due to the extreme heat and as well as due to
extensive cultivation. We run a few treks in this region only during
the winter months, some really well forested and vehicle free areas
still exist.
The region of the outer Himalayas, comprise of low hills and vast
expansive valleys, pine forests, rivers teaming with fish, hilltops
with breathtaking views, ancient traditions and customs and off
course the towns and villages. Some really admirable treks and
excursions can be planned in this area. The life of the simple hill
men can be seen and their festivals enjoyed in the numerous treks we
run, also worth mentioning are the ancient temples that abound here.
The forests are usually oak and pine and the wild life is abundant
in some of our treks, the Kakar or the Barking Deer, Leopards or
Bagh, wild Boars, Pheasants, Pine Martins and more than 80 species
of bird are resident out here.
Our most serious trekking is done in the Himalayas as we call it,
this is the area adjacent to the mighty Himalayan Mountains like the
Nanda Devi, Trisul, Panchachuli, Shivling, Bhaghirathi and many
more. These treks are referred to as High Altitude treks, and the
highest we reach is around 5000 metres above sea level. We run quite
a few treks in the region, visiting glaciers, high passes, sacred
lakes, beautiful alpine meadows and some of the villages. Meeting
the mountain men out to collect herbs and medicines in the meadows,
the shepherd with his vast flocks and as many worries, the hunter on
a lookout for something that moves or the elusive people from the
Darma region is an experience not readily forgotten. The views are
amazing and mountains are majestic but that is not all there is; the
Snow Leopard, Ibex, Bharal, Thar, Musk Deer, Monal Pheasant, Snow
cock, Hare mouse, Lammagier, Himalayan Griffen vulture and other
birds of prey make up the fauna of this region and a sight of any of
these is an experience.
Location
Situted in the central Himalayas at 1340 meters (4320 Feet) above sea
level, the Lake Resort is located on the grassy knoll above the deepest
and most picturesque lake in the 'Lake Distric' of the Kumaun region.
