number of fish, 34 species of mammals, 166 species of birds, 36 species
of reptiles and four species of amphibians. The invertebrate fauna
includes, besides a number of insects and ant species, several species
of butterflies. Nearly 30,000 tourists visits this sanctuary annually.

chital, wild boar, sloth bear and wild dog
Other places of
interest are Navegaon National Park (50 km), Itiadoh Dam (65 km),
Tibetan Camp at Gothangaon (60 km) and Pratapgad (70 km).
Most of the animals
need salt. They obtain required mineral and micro nutrients through
salts. It is observed that natural salt licks are available at some
places in the conservation unit. It is difficult to know each and every
salt lick in the area. Still some salt licks which are being used
extensively have been identified. Salt licks area mainly used by Gaur,
Chital, Sambar, Langur, Peafowl etc. Extensive use is evident from hoof
prints and amount of salt licked by them. Natural salt licks are
supplemented by artificial salt licks bricks every year
Wallowing
grounds are very essential for herbivore such as Sambar. Chital, Wild
bore, etc. for fulfilling their psychological instincts. Hence
artificial wallowing grounds are created along Tiger road, Bison road,
Chital road and Circular road. These wallowing grounds are of size
5mtrs x 5mtrs x 30mtrs. Approximately.
